The modern home is smart and sensual. With its good thermal insulation it uses only a fraction of the energy its predecessors needed; in some cases it even generates its own. The timber used as the building material is sourced from local forests, thereby contributing to the region's value added. Unfortunately, still too few developers and architects know what is needed to build such energy-efficient buildings.
