“Europe’s Special Areas?” Save the Date: 8 December 2011 (m.T)

The ESPON GEOSPECS project is organizing a stakeholder conference on mountain areas, islands, sparsely populated areas, coasts, border areas, Outermost regions and inner peripheries. We would like to cordially invite you to this event on 8 December 2011 in Brussels.

The aim of the conference is to discuss policy options at European level: How can areas with geographic specificities exploit their potentials? How should they be taken into account in future (cohesion) policy? What are the concrete implications of Article 174 TFEU? How can territorial diversity be managed in Europe? The project results will serve as a backdrop for these discussions.

The ESPON Applied Research project GEOSPECS seeks to construct more systematic knowledge on how policy interventions could help unleash the economic potential of geographically specific areas and support the concerned communities in their endeavour to design and implement models of sustainable development. If you would like to know more about the project, please visit www.geospecs.eu.
