mountain.SEARCH
A handbook on how to find the results of European mountain research on the internet
To transform research results into practice is the basic challenge for mountain.TRIP. To this aim we are developing prototypes of communication products. The "mountain.SEARCH" handbook is amongst them.
What
In the two years we have worked on mountain.TRIP, we came across many websites that could be of interest to you if you are looking for results of research projects funded by the EU that are relevant to mountain regions. The handbook describes 39 of such websites and summarizes what they have to offer in terms of data, maps, recommendations or best practice examples.
Why?
During the course of our project we realized that it was hard to find websites containing results. On the other hand, when we did find them, the websites were often outdated and rarely contained information practitioners could readily use.The practitioners's survey carried out in 2010 showed that practitioners were interested in finding exactly what was often not available: up to date results and useful information. In order to support them in their search for information we produced this handbook. It can lead the way to useful websites and can help to improve search methods .
For whom?
This handbook is for practitioners working in the field of sustainable mountain development in Europe.
How?
Mountain.TRIP made a list of websites containing data and relevant information and described them in short texts. The text was initially written in English and then translated to Romanian, Polish, German and Spanish. The graphical design was done by an expert.
